Grosset Polish Hill Riesling

£35.95
Jeffrey Grosset is widely hailed as the king of Riesling in Australia; his attention to detail (like most Riesling producers/nerds) in the vineyards and in the winery is legendary. The wines he creates are always beautiful expressions of his vineyards. The Polish Hill is often considered his best wine; taught and mineral with layers of complexity that unfurl with time. An Australian icon that improve for many years to come.

Springvale Riesling, Grosset

£28.95
For almost forty years, Jeffrey Grosset has been producing world class Riesling from his Springvale and Polish Hill vineyards; Grosset is truly one of Australia's greatest wineries. The Springvale vineyard has different soils to Polish Hill, soft loam as opposed to slate, and this makes the wine more open and approachable in it's youth. Still linear, pure and complex, it is perhaps my favourite of his wines to drink right now. In fact, it's one of my all time favourite whites and one I buy to keep at home every vintage. It is delicious with all sorts of salads and seafood dishes and of course goes well with fragrant Thai food. Simply delicious.

Riesling ‘Tradition’, Albert Mann

£23.95
This family owned, organic Domaine produces delicious wines from its own 22 ha of vines. This 'entry level' (dry) Riesling is a benchmark for the region; very clean and pure citrus flavours and a long, lingering dry finish.Delicious with salads and goes particularly well with thai food. And a great aperitif.

Noble Riesling 37.5cl, Framingham

£19.95
Framingham are Riesling specialists and this is a beautiful example in the Beerenauslese style. Light and beautifully fragrant, with rich lime and honey flavours and a long, elegant finish. The purity they get in their wines is astonishing and goes some way to explain why they have been named Winery of the Year for the last two years (The Real Review - New Zealand's top wine publication). This will age spectacularly if you can be bothered to keep it...it's so delicious right now. Lovely on it's own, or perfect with fruit desserts or rind-washed and blue cheeses.

Classic Riesling, Framingham

£18.95
Framingham are widely regarded a the top producer of Riesling in New Zealand. They make several different styles from very dry to very sweet. This ‘Classic’ Riesling is very much inspired by the great wines of the Mosel; a wine with a touch of sweetness but with crisp acidity and juicy citrus flavours perfectly balanced. This is sooo drinkable and refreshing and perfect with Thai food or any salads (especially on a sunny day in the garden…). Organic

Dreissigacker Dry Riesling

£16.95
Jochen Dreissigacker has 21 hectares of vineyards in the Rheinhessen, 55% of which are Riesling. All of his wines are certified organic and he describes his transformation to organic viticulture as “the artisan path to purity”. He reduced the yields in the vineyard by creating a much healthier soil, which in turn was lower in vigour. “The path to any truly great wine is to limit the amount of grapes that are allowed to ripen,” says Jochen. This Organic Riesling is ripe, clean, scented and zesty, it offers outstanding value; a great way to get into the world of Riesling. This dry style is very food-friendly, pairing well with light fish dishes and shellfish as well as really singing alongside Thai curries.
