Bandol Rouge, Domaine de Terrebrune
£35.95
Domaine Terrebrune was created by trained sommelier Georges Delille, who purchased the land in 1963. The 30-hectare domaine is located in Bandol, on the eastern side of Provence, and follows organic practices. The vines are cooled by the Mediterranean and finessed by the structure-giving limestone of its soils.
This red Bandol is a blend of 85% Mourvedre with Grenache and Cinsault playing a supporting role. Bright and vivacious on the nose showing mulberry and plum fruit with hints of liquorice and garrigue. The palate is lively and fresh with cherry and mulberry fruit and subtle hints of thyme. Mourvedre is known for its excellent structure and this is very evident here – the tannins are firm but supple and the fruit is layered and enveloping. The finish is incredibly long and very savoury. Great to drink now but has capacity to age for many years.
Pairs beautifully with most lamb dishes but is pretty good with all red meat and can handle a bit of spice.
