When Claudio Fenocchio succeeded his father Giacomo at the helm of the family business in 1989, the debate between modernist and traditionalists in Barolo was at its most acute. He decided to opt for a third approach, something we can call radical traditionalism. His wines were celebrated for being impressively approachable in youth while getting even better with age. Claudio represents the 5th generation of the Fenocchio family crafting elegant, true Barolos that capture the soul of his vineyards. Far from resting on his laurels though, he continues to push boundaries of quality and innovation while respecting his family legacy.
While Claudio’s Barolos attract all the plaudits, this great Barbera shows that great winemaking will always shine through.
This has gorgeous black cherry and violet aromas and good depth of flavour.
This would pair nicely with grilled chops or salami and (English) pecorino.
