Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve NV
Charles Heidsieck is one of the great names of Champagne and produces some of the finest of all champagnes. Founded in 1851 by Charles-Camille Heidsieck, the original 'Champagne Charlie', the foundation of its modern fame rests on the unrivalled quality of its wines, which receive countless awards and accolades year after year.
The grapes for the Brut Réserve are sourced from 60 different ‘crus’ across the region; fermentation and ageing of the base wines takes place primarily in stainless steel to preserve freshness; it is a blend of 40% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir and 20% Meunier, including at least 40% reserve wines, the average age of which is 10 years; and finally, the Brut Réserve is aged in bottle on its lees for at least three years prior to release.This really is one of the best NV wines coming out of Champagne! Beautiful.

Rathfinny Classic Cuvee Brut 2016
This family-owned estate was established in 2010 by Mark and Sarah Driver, with the first vineyards being planted in April 2012. Rathfinny’s estate vineyard now extends to over 93 hectares in the South Downs, just three miles from the Channel. Lying on a south-facing slope, their estate vineyard is predominantly planted with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Meunier and benefits from a semi-continental maritime climate and free-draining chalk soils, providing the ideal conditions to ripen grapes for sparkling wine. Rathfinny uses only estate-grown fruit for their four traditional-method sparkling wines and each of their wines is produced and labelled as a vintage wine.Rathfinny’s Classic Cuvée displays vivid aromas of grapefruit, red apple and brioche on the nose. The palate has real focus with zesty acidity tempered by the wine’s creamy texture and rich, biscuity notes, leading to a refreshing and moreish finish.Really impressed with this wine; soft and creamy but complex and serious at the same time. Easy drinking and perfect for English garden drinking!
Rochebouet ‘Cave Extreme’ Extra Brut Rose NV
50% Chardonnay and 50%Pinot Noir
French born Jean-Edouard de Rochebouët is a man who knows a thing or two about sparkling wine; he helped pioneer 'méthode champenoise' wines from Argentina in the early days of Domaine Chandon in Mendoza. What's not to love about this? Deliciously fruity and finely balanced with superb brioche and shortbread notes on the nose due to its spending 12 months on the lees in bottle, very pale pink in colour with tiny bubbles.
Avus Garganega Frizzante, Tessari
Tessari is a great little winery in the Soave area, producing quality wines organically.
This wine is a single variety Garganega ‘col fondo’, the traditional way, used before sparkling modern techniques came along.
The wine was bottled by hand and kept in the cellar; it has not been filtered, so there is a slight deposit made from natural yeasts produced by fermentation.
If, you like, you can un-cap it gently and decant it off the sediment but like a bottle-fermented beer, there's no harm in it.
It has the typical almond notes of the Garganega grape, with a slight bready flavour. Light, refreshing and delicious.
