Chateau Musar 2000
£37.95
The Hoshar family arrived in Lebabnon from France, in the 16th Century and since 1930 have produced one of the most iconic wines in the world.
Seven years in the making, Chateau Musar Red is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan and Cinsault from vineyards near the Bekaa Valley villages of Aana and Kefraya on gravelly soils over limestone. Planted from the 1930s onwards, yields are low from these mature bushvines (average age: 40 years): Between 15 to 35hl per hectare.
2000 was a strong Cabernet Sauvignon vintage and the wine now drinks like a beautiful, mature left-bank Bordeaux. In this respect, the wines offer extraordinary value for money – such complex and fascinating wines under £40!
Musar Reds always benefit from a few hours in a decanter before serving, at which point they really come alive.
A great wine for a roast rib of beef.

This is a great example from Alexandre Relvas Jr and his team at Casa Relvas. It is rich and juicy blend with a long smooth finish, that tastes much more expensive than it is. Perfect for BBQ's and a really versatile wine to have on hand, complementing pizza, meaty pasta, pork chops...
