Chinon ‘Les Clos’ 2014, Bruno Sourdais
£18.95
This property dates from 1850. The current incumbent is Bruno Sourdais who represents the 6th
generation on the site. Bruno joined his late father, Serge, in 1990, taking full control from the 2008 vintage. Three-quarters of the domaines 55 hectares are located on the slopes and plateau above the commune of Cravant.
Le Clos is a six-hectare parcel of 40 to 50 year old vines on the well-drained flinty soils on a slope directly above the cellar.
This really is one of the best Chinon available, good depth of fruit, without the overt green pepper flavours you often get with Cabernet Franc. There are also complex flavours developing from the bottle age; gentle peppery spice and a savoury meatiness. A very interesting wine.
If you haven’t tried Chinon before, this is definitely one to go for. Perfect with charcuterie and soft cheeses, but rich enough to stand up to grilled meats. Pork chops, good sausages, lamb kebabs…

Perfect for BBQ's and a really versatile wine to have on hand, complementing pizza, meaty pasta, pork chops...
