Clos de Gravillas is an organic estate based in the tiny hamlet of St Jean de Minervois, deepin the Languedoc countryside. Here, John and Nicole Bojanowski make some of the region’s most interesting wines. The Carignan vines that make this wine are from a high gravelly vineyard and are over 100 years old. This gives the wine real character, as if the vines have soaked up the minerals of the earth and the flavours of the surrounding Garrigue.
This is a dark, powerful wine that is a perfect match for slow roasted, herby meats. Unique and beautiful, this is Southern French wine at it’s best.

Semillion, Botanica, Stellenbosch, South Africa – Organic
Tiny production Semillon from Ginny Povall at Botanica Wines based near Stellenbosch, South Africa. Ginny is a self-taught winemaker from New York; sounds ominous but she is now regarded as one of the top winemakers in the Cape. This Semillon has lovely, lemony flavours with a delicate waxy texture and a hint of toast on the finish. Different and delicious; perfect with sushi or other light fish dishes.

The dry-farmed grapes for this wine come from a vineyard in the Citrusdal Mountain region. It is fermented and aged partially in old oak barrels and has the perfect balance between richness and freshness that only great Chenin Blanc seems to achieve. Amazingly complex and will continue to develop for many years to come. Outstanding.
Classic Riesling, Framingham
Framingham are widely regarded a the top producer of Riesling in New Zealand. They make several different styles from very dry to very sweet. This ‘Classic’ Riesling is very much inspired by the great wines of the Mosel; a wine with a touch of sweetness but with crisp acidity and juicy citrus flavours perfectly balanced. This is sooo drinkable and refreshing and perfect with Thai food or any salads (especially on a sunny day in the garden…). Organic
‘Contado’ Aglianico, Di Majo Norante
This organic estate in the small, remote region of Molise in Southern Italy makes truly exceptional wines that are also amazing value. The grape here is Aglianico which produces some of the most famous wines (Taurasi) in neighbouring Campania. Whereas there it makes wines with huge tannic structure, Di Majo Norante produce a softer, more approachable version, whilst retaining the depth and complexity. For the money, I believe this is one of Italy’s best value wines. A great wine for steaks, bbq, roasts, pretty much anything meaty. Delicious.
‘Manolibera’, Muralia
Muralia is a wonderful little winery in the Maremma region of Tuscany (near Montalcino but nearer the coast). It was set up in 1997 when Stefano and Chiara Casali fell in love with the land and moved down from Milan. They are committed to organic farming and everything here is done by hand. The passion and attention to detail really shines through in the wines; they are pure and vibrant expressions of their beautiful vineyards.
Manolibre is an light, unoaked blend of Sangiovese (50%), Cabernet Sauvignon (25%) & Merlot (25%), which really sings with bright red fruits and aromatic herbs.
If you make good pizza at home, then you need to try this - the perfect wine. Also great with tomato and meat pasta dishes (obviously...)
Reserve de Gassac Blanc, Mas de Daumas Gassac
This is a cracking organic wine! Made by the Guibert family at the iconic Mas de Daumas Gassac in the Languedoc, this is exceptional value for money. An unoaked, aromatic blend comprising of Viognier, Chardonnay, Terret and Muscat, this is creamy and peachy with a crisp, fresh finish. Perfect with seabass with fennel or other herby fish dishes. Organic.
Reserve de Gassac Rose, Mas de Daumas Gassac
This is such a great value wine! A light, fresh crisp organic Rose from one of France's most famous producers - Mas de Daumas Gassac. Based in the hot Languedoc region in the south of France, the Guibert family has fabulous vineyards with a unique, cool microclimate. This is a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Carignan.
The wines always have a suggestion of the garrique (wild aromatic herbs that grow abundant around them) and always deliver in terms of flavour and value.
The perfect summer pink for soaking up the sun; organic and under a tenner!
Organic Macabeo, Castano, Yecla
This is a great value certified organic wine from the Castano family in South East Spain. This Macabeo (known as Viura further north in Spain and Macabeu in France) is a lovely light, fresh wine with good depth of citrus flavours. A versatile food wine with enough flavour to stand up to some spice but also delicious on it’s own!
