The winery was set up in 2002 and produces some of the best value wines in the region.This Crianca, made from 100% Tempranillo grapes (known as Tinto del Pais in Ribero del Duero) is aged for 22 months in oak. Finding an old vineyard, new to them, of just Puesta en Cruz (Rabigato), winemaker, Jose, decided to keep this wine simple. Made in stainless steel and ages on lees for a short period, the wine is bursting with fresh citrus acidity and aromatics. Richness and smoky complexity comes form the lees, and results in a wine of balance and one that’s great with food.This has a lovely savoury nuttiness which goes particularly well with cheese; perfect with rind-washed soft cheeses or a hard sheep's cheese.
Salice Salentino Riserva, Cantele
Cantele, located in Puglia in the 'heel' of Italy are known for producing some of the country's best value wines and this is perhaps the best value of all. The grape variety is Negroamaro and the wine is rich, full-bodied with lots of dark, brambly fruit flavours and a long, lingering finish.
