The Middlemas Festive Wine Box
This is a carefully selected bunch of wines to cover the bit in between Christmas & New Years Eve, we like to call it Middlemas (or any other Christmassy occasion!). There is a lovely Prosecco that has been a firm favourite for well over a decade at No2. Other wines included have been chosen as easy and delicious wines to enjoy with or without food. We have even chosen a wine that pairs perfectly with turkey sandwiches! One of the favourites here is the organic Macabeo, it is super fresh with a deep rich flavour, stonking with smoked fish and a great aperitif. Chloe Prosecco, Althea, Veneto, Italy
Our house Prosecco for a long time now, and we’ve yet to find a better wine for the price. A clean and pure fizz with no nasty aftertaste or excess sugar; this family-owned winery delivers proper wine. Your guests will love it!
Organic Macabeo, Castano, Yecla, Spain
Great value for a delicious organic wine; this certainly over-delivers in terms of deliciousness! Macabeo gives fresh juicy, zingy wines and this example has great depth of flavour. Delicious on it’s own or with lighter fish dishes. A great match for smoked salmon and the perfect wine to give to guests on arrival.
Côtes de Gascogne, Duffour Père & Fils, South West France
Another delicious wine to serve throughout the Christmas period, crisp, dry, and elegant, this comes across like a Chablis and Sancerre. This is the perfect accompaniment to Turley sandwiches which makes them fun, right?
Borgo Selene Nero d’Avola/Nerello Mascalese, Sicily, Italy
This easy-drinking wine from Siciliy is a firm favourite here at No2 Pound Street, a house wine to be proud of. It tastes more expensive than it is, drinks beautifully on it’s own as well as being very versatile with food. Perfect party wine or to glug with the Christmas leftovers.
Hecula Monastrell, Castano, Yecla, Spain
Another cracking value wine from Familia Castano in the South of Spain. This is a rich, juicy full-bodied wine that will down a treat with all your guests. Goes very well with Christmas telly and leftovers including Stilton…
