Pinot Blanc Auxerrois 2018, Albert Mann
£18.95
This well-regarded 21 hectares Alsace domaine is run by two brothers, Maurice and Jacky Barthelmé, in the village of Wettolsheim near Colmar. Albert Mann, Maurice’s father-in-law, decided to use modern production tools without neglecting the constraints of the land. His philosophy was to make wine using the elements of the soil, without the help of fertilisers. The Barthelmé brothers have embraced his beliefs and are now at the forefront of a group of organic/ biodynamic Alsace producers.
Since 2000 the estate’s wines have been organically certified by Ecocert. The brothers began practising biodynamic viticulture in 1997 in three Grands Crus vineyards and received biodynamic certification from Biodyvin in 2015.
This Pinot Blanc/Auxerrois blend has lovely floral aromas and flavours of peach, pear and a touch of ginger. Perfect balance of freshness and richness and a versatile food wine.
A great all-rounder for the cheese board but especially good with goats’ cheese.

Highmoor whole cheese
A semi-soft, washed rind cheese with brothy and bacony notes from the rind made at the Nettlebed Creamery near Henley by Rose Grimmond. Rose's family are dairy farmers and the family farm, located 1 mile down the road, provides all the beautiful organic cows' milk used to make the Nettledbed cheeses. Shape, taste and texture all make Highmoor an interesting addition to any cheese board and given the closeness of the cow to creamery to No2 this is also a great cheese to eat to reduce your food miles and support two local businesses.
