Aveline 150g £8.50
Back to products
Drinks Biscuits Parmesan, Toasted Pine Nuts & Basil 110g £5.50

Pitchfork Semillon/Sauvignon

£13.95

The Pitchfork range represents unprecedentedly good value considering that all of the grapes are grown in Margaret River – very unusual for a wine at the entry level from this quality region.

Made from 60% Semillon and 40% Sauvignon, this wine possesses intensely flavoured, pristine fruit with a clean and zippy palate and fresh fruit flavours of lemon, passionfruit and pineapple. A wonderfully refreshing glass with so much character. A Bordeaux blend with a fresh, Aussie approach.

Delicious as an aperitif, at parties, or with light salads and fish dishes.

Southend Chardonnay, Newton Johnson

South Africa, White Wine
£19.95
This family farm was founded in the mid-1990s by Cape Wine Master, Dave Johnson and his wife, Felicity (Née Newton) and within the past twenty years has built a reputation for producing some of the Cape’s best Pinot Noir. Dave’s CWM thesis was on the variety. Right from the outset, Dave and Felicity’s offspring were involved and today it is very much Gordon, partnered by his wife, Nadia, who are responsible for the winemaking, with brother Bevan looking after the commercial side.Southend is a single vineyard that is owned and farmed by Newton Johnson's neighbours, the Pringle family. It is a notably cooler slope, a stone’s throw across the river from NJ, with less sunshine and consequently slower ripening. It produces wines with sparkling clarity, high-toned fruit flavours, compact structure, and vibrant acidity. They preserve these features by fermenting in larger format casks that often ferment slowly in to the winter. The oak is barely noticeable here, the wine is just fresh and juicy; such an elegant style of Chardonnay by one of the New World's best Chardonnay producers. If you know people who are adamant that they do not like Chardonnay, get them to taste this! A great all-rounder, suiting simple fish and shellfish dishes as well as salads and grilled vegetables.

Fiano, Caiaffa

Italy, White Wine
£15.95

Caiaffa works to the principle of synergistic agriculture. They believe that nature is man's greatest collaborator, and that nature maintains balance. Certified organic, they do not use insecticides or pesticides in order to encourage a balanced  ecosystem and work at one with nature.

They are especially protective of the insects which live on and around their vines; they work in harmony with them and have established a symbiotic relationship in which both parties benefit. For the bugs make it possible for micro-oxygenation and provide the means for nutrients needed to make passage through the soil. This is reflective in their branding and their packaging.

Caiaffa is located in Cerignola, a coastal town in the beautiful Tavoliere delle Puglie, northern Puglia. The Tavoliere area was once completely submerged in sea water, which has influenced a very special climate, in abundance of flora and fauna. The soils here are rich in limestone and the vines benefit from the mild Mediterranean weather. Through these wines, you can truly taste the authentic flavour of the land.

A lively and fresh white wine, with delicate flavours and aromas of ripe citrus fruit, stone fruits and white flowers. Great acidity and well balanced with a lovely long finish.

A great aperitif wine or perfect with salads, asparagus or light fish and shellfish dishes.

Vernaccia di San Gimignano, Panizzi

Italy, White Wine
£18.95
Situated in the picturesque medieval town of San Gimignano in Tuscany, Panizzi produce lovely organic certified, Vernaccia di San Gimignano wines of typicity and excellent value.Vernaccia diSan Gimignano is a historically important Italian DOC, Italy’s first DOC in fact, and home to Tuscany's leading white wines. Typically dry, fresh, crisp, and mineral, with a slightly bitter after note, these wines are predominantly made from Vernaccia, but also permit small portions of other white varietals to be included in the blend.Established in 1989 Panizzi work with 60 hectares of vines spread across four vineyard sites in the San Gimignano area; Lazzaretto, Santa Margherita, Montagnana, and Larniano. Born from research undertaken by Giovanni Panizzi, into Vernaccia di San Gimignano, the terroir, ageing techniques and sustainable agriculture, the company is run today by Simone Niccolai, who continues Giovanni’s legacy and research. Sustainability is a principal focus for Panizzi. No pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers are used during the production of their wines, from the 2020 vintage onwards they are certified organic, though they have farmed using organic practices for many years, they also do as much as possible by hand to limit the use of machinery and their environmental impact. All their wines are vegan and vegetarian friendly. Driven by identity, typicity, and quality, these wines show real focus, terroir expression, and varietal purity. This is the perfect, elegant wine to accompany simple grilled fish with really good olive oil.

Meandro Branco, Quinta do Vale Meao

Portugal, White Wine
£22.95

Vito, Xito and Luisa Olazabal represent the 5th and 6th generations to oversee the Douro’s most iconic estate. The huge meander in the Douro in which the estate sits provides the name for Vale Meao’s ‘second’ wine, but forget any ideas of compromise here: it’s a triumph in its own right. The 300 hectare property was purchased in 1877 unplanted, by the famous Dona Antonia Adelaide Ferreira - whose descendants now run Vale Meao - and was transformed by hundreds of workers into the 'chateau' and vineyards by 1894. Making some of Portugal's most outstanding reds is all very well but the family realised that when they wanted to drink white wine, they were having to buy from elsewhere; so they decided to make their own! Years of experience gave Xito the keen eye to spot some great vineyards of Arinto and Rabigato, just up the road from his Quinta. In the Meandro Branco we have unexpected freshness and class, for a lowland Douro white. The blend proportions change a little each year, with Rabigato being just dominant. The Rabigato brings a little body, riper fruits and floral elegance to Arinto’s fresh acidity, citrus and green fruit. Schist soils and a touch of lees bring textural minerality.

This drinks a little bit like really good Chablis but with a bit more zing. Delicious with fine fish dishes: dover sole grilled with a butter sauce...mmm

Sauvignon Blanc, Framingham

White Wine
£18.95
Framingham has been named winery of the year by The Real Review (New Zealand’s top wine publication) for the last two years. They make stunning wines! This Sauvignon is a little bit different to most, with the wine seeing extra skin contact and some ageing in old barrels; this gives the wine a lovely texture and a savoury edge alongside those classic Sauvignon flavours. A very ‘food-friendly’ version of Kiwi Savvy Blanc!

Soave Classico, Monte Tondo

Italy, White Wine
£15.95

Monte Tondo is a family estate located in the beautiful hillside vineyards of Soave. Here the soils range from volcanic to chalky, which alongside the varying microclimates, gives the wines distinct flavour characteristics and individualistic style.

Alongside his family, winemaker Gino Magnabosco is part of the third generation to run the estate. They believe that hard work, drive, and determination are key to obtaining the best results from their land. Maintaining, nourishing, and cherishing the land of their ancestors is of utmost importance. And although not certified, they farm using organic practices and an environmentally friendly approach to both viticulture and vinification. No chemicals are used in their production and they recycle everything excess coming from the vineyard (stems as fertilizers, skins for grappa, pruned branches for heating and fertilizer).

Small proportions of other varieties are allowed in the production of Soave, but Monte Tondo focus their concentration purely on Garganega. Garganega is a variety so versatile and easily culinary matched but also with the ability to produce complex wines with age-ability.

A very good example of Soave at a very good price. This over-delivers.. Perfect with salads and light fish and shellfish dishes.
