Niepoort Vintage Port 2019 75cl
We are delighted to announce that Niepoort have declared their 2019 Vintage Port, and to share the details of this exceptional vintage, and our offer, with you.In the words of Dirk Niepoort..."2019 had the classic hallmarks of a great vintage; A rainy winter followed by a dry summer with rain in the last weekend of August allowing the fruit to reach full maturity whilst maintaining finesse and elegance - the perfect conditions in which the Niepoort style thrives! This is a port with a concentrated depth of colour. The true potential and style of this wine is really displayed on the palate with wonderful integration of dark fruits, a grainy tannic structure, and pairing volume with amazing balance and elegance culminating in an impressive finish. In conclusion, the primary fruit on the palate is appealing at this stage, but it is the balanced tannic structure which indicates great ageing potential for the future. This is a Vintage Port with personality and, for Niepoort, richer and riper than previous vintages, but maintains the true essence of a Niepoort Vintage Port; finesse, no exuberance and an overarching balance to the wine that will continue to develop for years to come."After trying this wine, I heartily agree that this is a very special wine. What I love about Niepoort's Vintage Ports is that they are so VERY DRINKABLE; they have the depth and complexity of a fortified wine but they have a lightness of touch almost like his (amazing) table wines. I'll certainly be buying some for myself, perhaps to squirrel away for a few years, but as the wine is drinking so well already, it will be hard to resist when Christmas rolls around this year! Buy for yourself or as a wonderful gift for future generations. This wine is available to buy now and the wine will arrive in the UK November 2019 - we will notify you when it arrives. Offer ends Monday 14th June

Tolpuddle Pinot Noir
The Tolpuddle vineyard was purchased by Martin Shaw and Michael Hill Smith in 2011. It is situated in the Coal River Valley, in Tasmania’s south-east corner. First planted in 1988 by Tony Jordan and Garry Crittenden, it has since established a reputation for growing exceptional quality grapes, with the focus on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The cool but relatively dry climate allows the grapes to ripen slowly in autumn, without the disease pressure that heavy rainfall can bring. The vineyard took its name from the Tolpuddle Martyrs, who were transported to Australia in 1834 for starting an agrarian union in Tolpuddle in Dorset. The leader of the group, George Loveless, served part of his sentence working on a property near Richmond called GlenAyr, part of which is now the Tolpuddle Vineyard. This is certainly one of Australia's best Pinot Noirs with this vintage rated 99/100 on jamessuckling.com. Elegant and balanced but with great complexity and depth. Stunning wine! Perfect Pinot for a special occasion. On my list for Christmas Day this year!
Ata Rangi Pinot Noir
Ata Rangi, meaning ‘dawn sky, new beginning’ is owned and managed by Clive Paton, his wife Phyll and his sister Alison. In 1980 Clive planted the bare, stony, home paddock at the edge of Martinborough, becoming one of a handful of people who pioneered grape growing in the area. Ata Rangi’s first vineyard covered less than five hectares on deep, free-draining alluvial gravels – the original course of a local river which flows from the hills that flank the eastern side of the valley. Today they are joined by a strong team including winemaker Helen Masters, who in 2019 was awarded New Zealand Winemaker of the Year by Gourmet Traveller WINE magazine, as recognition of her 16 years’ work at Ata Rangi.Ata Rangi is renowned for its Pinot Noir and is widely regarded as New Zealand’s top Pinot Noir producer. They were awarded Five Stars in the ‘2019 Great New Zealand Pinot Noir Classification’ by Matthew Jukes and Tyson Stelzer for the consistent gold medal standard of their wines. At the 2010 International Pinot Noir Conference, Ata Rangi Pinot Noir was one of two producers granted the title of ‘Tipuranga Teitei o Aotearoa’ (which translates from Māori as ‘Great Growth of New Zealand’ or ‘Grand Cru’), in recognition of their unique site and of the family’s commitment to evolving and developing New Zealand Pinot Noir. The oldest Pinot Noir vines, which include a clone allegedly smuggled from Burgundy, were planted in 1980.This is one of my favourite Pinot Noirs from anywhere! I love the slightly savoury style of Martinborough Pinot and no-one does it better than Ata Rangi.I would drink this with anything but roast pork belly with fennel seeds springs to mind as a match made in heaven.
British Cake of Cheese
What a beautiful centre piece for a party or dinner event, complete with the classic flavours and a wonderfully British twistKeen's Mature Cheddar Truckle, Somerset Baron Bigod ~ Brie de Meaux style, Suffolk Perl Las ~ Soft Blue, Wales Yorkshire Bix ~Brillat Savarin Style, OxfordshireTake it to your host the perfect dinner party or celebration !All you need now is to choose your crackers and chutney!
British 7 Cheese Selection
Baron Bigod 250g – Made by Jonny Crickmore in Bungay SuffolkMade in small batches to a Brie de Meaux style passed on by a French cheesemaker, it is the only traditional Brie-style cheese currently being produced in the UK. In fact, it is arguably more authentic than the majority of French Brie in that it’s made on a farm as opposed to a creamery, using the very freshest milk from Jonny’s own herd of Montbéliarde cowsWestcombe Cheddar 250g – Made by Tom Carver in Westcombe, SomersetWestcombe Cheddar has a deep complex flavour with a mellow lactic tang and long notes of citrus, hazelnut and caramel. The texture is structured and firm, with a smooth breakdown that keeps the flavours lingering on your palate.Cropwell Blue Stilton 250g – Made by Robin Skailes in NottinghamshireCropwell Bishop Organic Stilton is the ‘king’ of blue cheese and surprisingly Cropwell Bishop is still the only Stilton maker to produce a certified organic Stilton. The organic cows’ milk gives a mellow flavour with the same strong blue veins expected in any Stilton. It is rich and masterful, what is not to love! Like all Cropwell Bishop Stiltons their organic Stilton is matured for 12 weeks.Mrs Kirkhams 250g – Made by Graham Kirkham in Goosnargh, LancashireWinner of a 3 Star Great Taste Award 2019, Mrs Kirkham’s is top of its game for a traditional British Territorial cheese. It’s the last remaining raw milk Lancashire made in Britain, so it really is a slice of history. It is made with a recipe passed down through generations that produces an amazing depth of flavour. It has all the classic milky, lactic yogurt notes, accompanied with the trademark Lancashire crumble. However, the artisan nature of the production brings in a lovely deep buttery angle that you don’t usually get with Lancashire.St Helena 250g – Made by Blake Bowden in Bungay, SuffolkSt. Helena is washed with brine to encourage the native flora from the raw milk and the beautiful pink rind. Supple and fudgey, with a delicate texture. You will notice a buttery paste with subtle soured milk flavours and earthy/farmyard flavours on the edible rind.Rachel 250g – Made by Roger Longman in Whitelake, SomersetA semi-firm goats cheese with a lightly washed rind with subtle sweet and nutty lingering flavours. As the cheese matures it is washed regularly in a brine solution which gives it its pinky rind with occasional neon orange and yellow spots. Rachel is a delightfully fragrant cheese, for those who enjoy a cheese that is not too strong or overly ‘goaty’ on the palate.Lanark Blue 250g – Made by Selina Cairns in Errington, Scotland A classic unpasteurised sheeps’ milk blue cheese, with fudge, cream and mineral notes from the bolts of blue running through it. Sadly the original Lanarkshire Blue cheese recipes were lost post-Second World War, so when Selina and Andrew Cairns decided to revive cheese making in Lanarkshire, they had to go to France to learn from Roquefort cheese makers – bringing back blue cheese recipes and creating their own Scottish or Lanarkshire take on blue cheese.

Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve NV
Charles Heidsieck is one of the great names of Champagne and produces some of the finest of all champagnes. Founded in 1851 by Charles-Camille Heidsieck, the original 'Champagne Charlie', the foundation of its modern fame rests on the unrivalled quality of its wines, which receive countless awards and accolades year after year. The grapes for the Brut Réserve are sourced from 60 different ‘crus’ across the region; fermentation and ageing of the base wines takes place primarily in stainless steel to preserve freshness; it is a blend of 40% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir and 20% Meunier, including at least 40% reserve wines, the average age of which is 10 years; and finally, the Brut Réserve is aged in bottle on its lees for at least three years prior to release. This really is one of the best NV wines coming out of Champagne! Beautiful.
Gordon & MacPhail – Caol Ila 13yo Single Malt Whisky
13-year-old Caol Ila.From the island of Islay, this is as typical a dram as you can get from the island, packed with sweet fruit and dark peat smoke. A headline of the Smoky side of things.
Gordon & MacPhail – Tomatin 2010 Single Malt Whisky
2010 Tomatin single malt. From the famous independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail, bottled in 2022 Aromas of lemon zest, tropical fruit and honeydew melon fill the nose, complemented by notes of dried pineapple, green apple, brown sugar, charred oak and malted biscuits throughout the palate.
