Valencay, Sebastien Vaillant
£13.95
This has long been one of our most popular wines, a delicious blend of Sauvignon Blanc with a dash of Chardonnay. The Chardonnay adds a lovely texture and a tiny bit of weight to the wine but it still retains that classic Loire Sauvignon character. Sebastian Vaillant is a great winemaker and this is a great value alternative to the neighbouring wines of Sancerre and Pouilly-Fume.

‘La Long Bec’ Blanc, Chenonceaux
£17.95
Luc Poullain bought Domaine des Echardières and its 16 hectares of vines as a going concern in 2000. He was 30 years old at the time. An interesting career path, he studied as an agricultural engineer in Bedfordshire in the early 1990s!
There are seven hectares of Sauvignon Blanc here planted on two different soil types: silex and caillotes – the same one would expect to find in Sancerre and Pouilly. This wine rivals the best of both of those villages.
Luc uses the Touraine-Chenonceaux appellation that came into effect from the 2011 vintage. Named after the famous Renaissance château situated just down the road, the appellation exists for both red and white wine, selected from the best vineyards located on both sides of the Cher.If you love Loire Sauvignon, you have to try this! It has real richness to it that makes it stand apart from others but still finishes crisp and fresh. Delicious with simple grilled fish - dover sole with lots of butter would be ideal.
Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc
£21.95
Dog Point Vineyard was established in 2002, by partners Ivan & Margaret Sutherland and James & Wendy Healy. With a passion for producing premium organic wine, Dog Point Vineyard has become widely regarded as one of New Zealand's top producers of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The name is from early settlement of Marlborough, when sheep were introduced to the area. Without many fences, boundaries were established by dogs, some of which got lost, bred and made their home as a pack in the hills overlooking the Wairau Plains. This became known as Dog Point. Naturally, there is a pack of dogs - albeit much more friendly - always ready to greet visitors of the winery.A beautifully balanced wine, much more food friendly than most NZ Sauvignon. Perfect for summer salads and garden drinking.
Saint-Veran ‘Tradition’, Domaine des Deux Roches
£22.95
This domaine is based in the village of Davayé, in the Mâconnais, and is jointly owned by Jean-Luc Terrier and Christian Collovray. Their 50 hectares of vineyards largely lie between the twin escarpments of Solutré and Vergisson and showcase the diverse terroirs of this region. The wines of Deux Roches are known for their drinkability and offer great value for money; the domaine is particularly known for its excellent Saint-Véran.The cuvée Tradition emits a floral scent reminiscent of honeysuckle and acacia flowers. Pear, green apple, peach and apricot, are all well-integrated on the palate and reinforced by creamy notes, and a long floral finish.Versatile with food but particularly good with roast chicken.
‘Chiaraluna’ Viognier, Muralia
£23.95
Muralia is a beautiful organic winery in the Maremma region of Tuscany, owned and run by Stefano Casali, who is an absolute perfectionist when it comes to wine! This is a very elegant Viognier, with clean, pure stone fruit flavours and without the heaviness that sometimes comes with that grape. One of the best expressions of Viognier I've ever tasted (from anywhere!).Absolutely delicious with poached salmon or lobster.
Custoza, Monte del Fra
£13.95
Monte del Fra is a great family winery based just south of Lake Garda in the Veneto region, north-east Italy.
Run by the Bonomo family since 1958 and now in the hands of brothers Eligio and Claudio, it is one of the most progressive and quality-minded producers in the area.
This wine is one of our all-time favourites! A blend of Garganega, Trebbiano, Trebbianella and Cortese, it is clean and fresh but with a lovely depth of juicy citrus and pineapple flavours. Delicious.
Similar in style to a Soave or Lugana, this is a perfect aperitif, garden wine or a very classy party wine; it is also very versatile with food and is one we reach for more than most in the summer as it is perfect with salads, shellfish and light fish dishes.
I've never met anyone that doesn't like this wine...one to stock up on!

The vineyards are planted with 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon – on gravelly and sandy soils and cover nearly 26 hectares.A classic example of St.Emilion; medium-bodied, wood-scented with notes of plum and the perfect accompaniment to roast lamb!
Chateauneuf-du-Pape ‘Les Safres’, Le Clos du Caillou’
£49.00
The much-lauded Le Clos du Caillou produces classic Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines that just keep getting better, year-on-year. The domaine is situated on the edge of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and is unique in that, in 1936, the owner (who was then away at a hunting retreat) refused to allow the experts who were drawing up the boundaries of the appellation to visit his domaine. Thus, it was not included in the delimited area and remains to this day an enclave within the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. The domaine practices biodynamic farming techniques and was certified "Agriculture Biologique" in 2010 and "Vin Biologique" in 2012. Their trademark style lies in full-bodied wines with rich red fruit flavours, velvety texture and fine tannins.Les Safres is 95% Grenache with the rest Mourvedre, Cinsault & Vaccarese. Not too heavy for a Chateauneuf but great intensity of pure spicy dark fruit. Really impressive.
