Harrow & Hope Brut Rose, Bucks, England

£38.95
From Marlow, Henry & Kate Laithwaite make some stunning sparkling wines. We love their wine; the quality is amazing, the packaging is beautiful, it makes the perfect gift and is a local business doing a world class job! In the words of Henry...'This release signifies the future make up of this wine after years of trialing various blends. 30% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Meunier, 50% Pinot Noir (7% Red) and 30% barrel fermentation is the formula we feel brings the best out of this wine. The aim is to still demonstrate Pinot vintage expression with a key component being the 7% red wine addition. The Chardonnay is there to balance everything out and give the wine a finesse and seamless structure that makes it a sumptuous drinking experience.'

Champagne Geoffroy Expression Brut NV

£39.95
Stretching over 14 ha of vines in the heart of Vallée de la Marne, Champagne Geoffroy is renowned for Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier focused champagnes of incredible freshness and authenticity. Since the 17th century, the family has been growing grapes but only in the 1950s did the family start vinifying their grapes. 50% pinot meunier, 40% pinot noir, 10% chardonnay from Cumières, this is the classic non-vintage expression of Geoffroy’s house style.  The rich fig and red apple fruits create a compelling contrast with crisp acidity and tight grapefruit and lemon notes.  Three years on lees makes for generous maturity, reinforcing honey and fruit cake spice and a deliciously creamy texture. Very classy Grower Champagne.

The grapes for the Brut Réserve are sourced from 60 different ‘crus’ across the region; fermentation and ageing of the base wines takes place primarily in stainless steel to preserve freshness; it is a blend of 40% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir and 20% Meunier, including at least 40% reserve wines, the average age of which is 10 years; and finally, the Brut Réserve is aged in bottle on its lees for at least three years prior to release. This really is one of the best NV wines coming out of Champagne! Beautiful.
