Greywacke 3-pack
A great introduction to the wines of Greywacke!
After our recent tasting with Kevin & Kimberly Judd we've selected three wines from their range to showcase the quality of the winemaking; these really are some of New Zealand's finest.
The 2025 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is absolutely stunning, perhaps the finest example on the market. More complex and rounder than most kiwi sauvignons, with less green, herbaceous flavours and more richness and depth.
The 2023 Wild Sauvignon shows what Kevin is really capable of as a winemaker, taking Marlborough Sauvignon to another level altogether. The wild yeast fermentation in barrel and the judicious use of oak ageing on lees creates layers of complex, savoury flavours intermingled with the beautiful fruit. This is a much more food-friendly Sauvignon which pairs well with a great variety of food styles from Sushi to classic creamy fish dishes.
The 2023 Pinot Noir is a beautiful example of what Pinot Noir can achieve in Marlborough. Kevin has totally re-defined how this grape is looked at in this area, bringing in more suitable Pinot clones (Dijon) and planting on the hillsides with the best soils rather than the flat plains. This has led to greater depth, richness and complexity and really put Marlborough on the Pinot map.
Astrolabe Marlborough Pinot Noir
Simon Waghorn of Astrolabe Wines is one of New Zealand's most respected winemakers; his wines are always balanced, with great depth of flavour.
This Pinot Noir has more complexity than many from Marlborough, with a subtle savoury edge to the rich creamy red fruit flavours.
Delicious with rack of lamb or soft cheeses such as Baron Bigod.
