Rully, David Moret
£42.00
David Moret is a micro-négociant making only white wines in his small cellar in Beaune. He studied oenology, but then went on to sell winemaking supplies before finally deciding to make wines himself. With no family-owned vines, he bought grapes to vinify, purchasing his first barrels in the late 1990s and starting the Moret-Nominé label in 2000. Since then, he has continued to buy small parcels of grapes from top growers, to vinify in his cellars. The wines he makes are exceptional examples of each terroir.
This wine is pale golden in colour. The nose is full with a varying bouquet of flavours; elderberry, lemon, white peach and hints of flint. The palate strikes the characteristically Burgundian balance between acidity and richness, with bright fruit, nuts, oatmeal and notes of honey, a rounded palate and a long finish.
Rully is a village that is worth seeking out; in the right hands (ie David Moret!), it can produce amazing quality White Burgundy which would cost you a LOT more form a more famous village. Whilst David also makes exceptional Meursault, Puligny & Chassagne-Montrachet, this wine gives you a window into that world at a fraction of the price.
A lovely wine for fish with beurre blanc or lobster with garlic butter!

This is a great value certified organic wine from the Castano family in South East Spain. This Macabeo (known as Viura further north in Spain and Macabeu in France) is a lovely light, fresh wine with good depth of citrus flavours. A versatile food wine with enough flavour to stand up to some spice but also delicious on it’s own!
